Nugget Blessing

Nugget was rescued on 4 Aug 2023. He had a severed tail which was badly infected with maggots. The infection had spread deeper into the tissue, and he was admitted into A&E with the possibility of having to amputate the remaining portion of his tail. Thankfully, the infection gradually cleared with treatment and no amputation was needed. Nugget was heartworm positive and completed his treatment on 2 Dec 2023. During his recovery, we noticed that his body posture and gait seemed abnormal, as he was walking bow-legged like a crab. Nugget then had to go through another 2 major surgeries for each of his legs to correct them. This was followed by months of continuous physiotherapy, rehabilitation and pain management exercises. After a long journey of recovery, made possible by the consistent love and dedication of our volunteers and workers, the support of RehabVet, and the generosity of kind donors from the public, Nugget was finally soft discharged from RehabVet in mid-2025.

Nugget is a dog who seems to be easily contented and has shown so much resilience and bravery despite going through 3 major surgeries. He is a sweet boy who shows his love in the quietest ways, such as wagging his tail stump ever so slightly, or inching closer to you during car rides. He has also shown his quirky side, as we noticed his interest in watching cartoons, with Paw Patrol being his favourite!

While Nugget may still require some additional support during walks, his needs are very manageable with the use of a back support harness. He does his pee and poo just like any other dog. He still enjoys two long walks everyday and is able to move around the kennel independently without support.

We sincerely hope that a miracle will happen for Nugget - that a patient, understanding and compassionate family will consider opening their hearts and home to him.

1. As per AVS regulation, medium sized dogs are not of HDB approved size unless they qualify under ADORE. An owner of landed house or private condominium are allowed to keep up to 3 licensed dogs.
2. Adopter must agree to sterilize the dog and vaccinate it annually.
3. Adopter must allow home visits, if requested.
4. Adopter must have a proper space area for the dog. It must not be caged up, confined to a small space or tied to a leash throughout each day.
5. Adopter must be able to feed twice and walk the dog thrice a day (morning, evening & before bedtime) and bathe the dog at least once a week.
6. Clean water must always be made available to the dog.
7. To arrange a viewing of any dog for adoption purpose, your whole family must be present as adoption should be agreed as a family.
8. Dog license must be applied and renewed when necessary.
9. The monthly preventives of Heartgard and Nexgard must be continued.
10. The dog should be fed dog kibbles and fresh meat (cooked or prepared appropriately, and not raw meat) unless otherwise advised by the veterinarian (not leftover human food or vegetarian diet).
