Saving Dogs, Touching Lives - Guided by our vision to improve the lives of animals through rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing, Mercylight strives to build a more compassionate community through education, advocacy and outreach.
Our Story

Mercylight Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a volunteer-run charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming homeless, abandoned, neglected, and at-risk dogs in Singapore. Founded in 2009 by volunteers caring for stray dogs in eastern Singapore, Mercylight has grown into a registered charity and Institution of a Public Character (IPC). Despite this growth, we remain entirely volunteer-driven. Our motto, "Saving Dogs. Touching Lives.", reflects our belief that every rescue creates a ripple effect of compassion. By giving dogs a second chance, we help build stronger connections between people, animals and the community.
It all began in 2009 when one of us spotted a skeleton-thin dog standing in the middle of a two-laned road in an industrial area and gave the dog her takeaway dinner, a packet of chicken rice. From that evening onward, rain or shine, the dog faithfully waited at that same corner of the road, at the same hour every day, for the same person to come and feed her.
Today, through similar encounters and relationships, we have sterilised many of them and helped place them into good homes with which we still keep in touch.
